Board Meeting Minutes
April 7, 2009
Mexican Chiquita,Temecula,Ca.
7 Board members in attendance; Debbie Dutton,
Merlene Sutalo, Cathy Yaskivich, Janniece MacDonald, Carole Hackett,
Kathryn Grossman and Patty White.
Meeting was called to order by Debbie.
Minutes were accepted as written.
Treasurer’s Report; $12,327.18 (before show income
& expenses). Taxes have been completed.
Old Business;
Parade – We have participated in two parades and
got 1st in both. Next is the Norco parade and we are
scheduled to give a demo at the Extravaganza of the Fiesta of the
Spanish Horse in Burbank. Special decorations have been made for the
unit. The insurance costs are high so we need a sponsor. Danell hopes to
get one in Peru. Debbie has contacted NAPHA for some assistance in the
costs. We are in the Joy of Riding program.
Trail Ride – We were unable to cancel the insurance
as Markell requires a 10-day notice.
April Show – Financial report next month. We
discussed CRC and noted problems with the facilities. There were quite a
few new people in the stands observing. Discussed getting a 2010 date.
We may rent some golf carts, but will need some “golf cart rules”.
Ventura Show – Joe Chandler cancelled his contract
and decided not to judge the Pleasure/Performance division. Fortunately
Mariano Cabrera has agreed to judge this division as well as the
Breeding Division. The premium is almost ready and Debbie will send it
to Cathy, Kathryn and Janniece for review. The hotel is booked, facility
contract signed and $900 deposit made.
Burbank Show – The judges are confirmed – Filipe
Thorndike and Raul Risso. John MacDonald will make the air reservations
for Raul Risso. We have had a request for a Pairs Class and will
announce this in the newsletter.
Fiesta & Los Amigos – Both organizations have
requested approval for points and both were approved.
Banquet Gifts – Merlene will pick up items in Peru
for the raffle as well as door prizes.
New Business;
Welcome Letter – Danell suggested we send a welcome
letter to the Novices. This was approved so Debbie will enclose it with
the membership packet. Patty had a questions regarding the Novice rules
– 3 1st places in SCPPHC shows or does this include shows
approved by SCPPHC? We never made a rule on this. All Board members need
to think about this and make a decision next meeting.
Directory – Need to do soon.
Breeders’ Cup – This was the second time it was not
awarded. We decided in the future to not have the year engraved on the
award and keep the same style for all the shows.
Merlene said there were a lot of spectators at the
World Show in Florida as the “Peruvian” community was notified of the
show. We discussed doing the same. Unfortunately not many horses
participated.
We agreed to change the next meeting to May 12th
rather than have the meeting on Cinco de Mayo at this Mexican Restaruant.
Plus it is Debbie’s birthday.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:30pm.
