SCPPHC Board Meeting Minutes

                                                      Aug. 7, 2007

                                         Mexican Chiquita, Temecula, Ca.

6 Board  members in attendance: Tammy Rimes, Cathy Yaskivich, Debbie Dutton, Kathryn Grossman, Tracy McGraw & Merlene Sutalo. Missing was Bonnie Gallegos.

Meeting was called to order by Tammy.

Minutes were accepted as written.

Treasurer’s Report: $9322.96. Los Amigos owes us their half of the $165 for the ad in Horseman’s News. Debbie expressed some concern that the balance is lower than this time last year. We have been spending more this year. We are completely paid up with the tax bill for the County of Ventura.

OLD  BUSINESS:

Action items completed – Premium out, hotel reservations completed, Bonnie sent Raul Risso’s e-mail address to Cathy, newsletter mailed, additional and corrected awards are ordered and will be distributed at the show, Darrell Thompson’s request for horse trailer set-ups at Seaside Park for Express Trailers will be arranged at the show. Tammy will phone him regarding his actual request.

Ventura Show – Cathy has been preparing the stall chart and other arrangements. The judge, Luis Dapelo, is renting a car and making his own arrangements. Tammy will call Carolyn Mittrick and plans are for Kathryn to pick her up at the airport. Debbie will arrive on Saturday morning. Promotional items – we have the usual sizes so won’t order anything more at this time. Merlene brought up some problems that occurred at the Los Amigos Show which we will need to address. First is who qualifies to ride in the Owner to Ride Class. We decided that in order to qualify as an owner, the person must be listed as an owner on the registration papers. A notice of this will be posted in the show office. Another problem was that the Peruvian judges don’t like the new halter rules. The third problem was “slapping” the horse with the stirrups to check “brio”. Cathy will check the NAPHA rules on this issue. In the premium Debbie said the statement regarding late fees which says “may be charged a late fee if not in by due date” should be changed to “will be…” This was agreed. Debbie Pye purchased show numbers as she was unable to get the free numbers from Purina. We plan to hold a 50/50 drawing which the juniors will handle. The funds will benefit the juniors.

NEW BUSINESS:

Show dates confirmed for Pomoma for 2008 are April 12th & 13th and Oct.25th & 26th.

November Election Meeting – Joy Gould offered to have the meeting at her ranch at the same time she is having  a clinic with Mimi Busk Downey. However we already had been planning the meeting at the Sutalos’ new ranch in La Cresta. The meeting will be Nov. 10th and Cathy will put an RSVP on the flyers so Merlene will be able to have a count for the caterer. Cathy will mail the nomination forms out by Sept. 8th with a return due date of Sept. 29th. Tammy suggested we include a space for “why” on the nomination form for the categories of Member of the Year and Sportsman. This was approved. The ballots will be mailed by Oct. 18th. We will decide on who will count the ballots once we know who will be running for office.

Newsletter – Deadline is Aug. 15th and will go out in Sept. Cathy thought we should have included the year end banquet and awards in the newsletter. This will be posted on the web-site.

Cathy has quite a few Club decals. We will put one in each show packet and mail them to the remainder of the members.

Debbie has the directory almost completed and has e-mailed all a copy. She will mail them next week.

Oct. 21st is “Horsing Around Day” in Moreno. Debbie & Kathryn will attend representing the Club.

Cathy will send a card to Rosie Heffley as she is not feeling well due to her cancer treatments.

The next meeting will be Sept.11th at Mexican Chiquita.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:15pm.

Respectfully submitted,

Cathy Yaskivich
