Meeting Minutes
February 3,
2009

6 Board members in
attendance: Debbie Dutton, Merlene Sutalo, Cathy Yaskivich, Kathryn
Grossman, Carole Hackett, and Patty White. Missing was Janniece
MacDonald. Also in attendance was Danell Adams.
Meeting was called to order
by Debbie.
Minutes were accepted as
written.
Treasurer’s Report:
$19,632.48. Jorge Valenzuela paid is past due bill. For the 2009 show
season he will need to pay his bill with cash or cashiers’ check. A
deposit for about $2000 has been made (membership dues & banquet).
Old Business;
Parades – Danell said there
are about 14 riders confirmed for the SCPPHC parade group with the
intention of getting in the Rose Parade. Three parades are scheduled
before the application is due on May 15th. A group is making
red and white ponchos and hatbands. Individual photos of horse and
riders will be taken at the Laguna Beach parade. We may have an added
edge if we get a sponsor from Peru as well and Alberto Lummis is helping
us to try to get a sponsor. The theme is “A Cut Above the Rest” which
definitely is the Peruvian Paso.
Equine Affaire – This went
well although attendance was down.
Banquet – 61 people are
signed up. Patty will pick up the awards from G & W. Debbie will set-up
on Friday and handle minor completion on Sat. after the Saddle & Harness
Club finish their banquet. John will put up balloons. We decided to have
the award presentation prior to dinner which will be about 6:30pm.
Raffle will follow dinner. Social hour will be from 4-5pm and the
general meeting will be at 5pm with the award ceremony following. Cathy
will need a table at the entrance to handle the reservations, sell
raffle tickets and take membership renewals. For one of the raffle items
we agreed to donate 2 certificates for 2 free classes at the Spring
Show.
Trail Ride – In order to
offer the associate membership we would need a By-Law change as this is
not listed as one of our forms of membership. Everyone participating
will need to sign a release form. Perhaps in the future will have a
By-Law change to include an associate membership.
Clinic & Playday – March 14
& 15, 2009 at Hacienda Sosegado. We will handle the lunch and Joy will
reimburse us if we lose any money- pizza and sandwiches. Kathryn will do
gates.
April Show - Cathy will
order the laureado awards from G & W Awards. Cathy, Merlene and Carole
will post flyers and posters in the area. We need to order a special
award for the Vivienne Lundquist Ch. Of Ch. Breeding Stallion. The
laureado party will be on the grounds and catered. Carole will check on
the best place to get the shavings-price wise. Patty will prepare
hamburgers and hotdogs which we will sell for $7 and will include a
choice of potato salad or chips and a soda. Extra sodas will be sold for
$1 each. We will charge the trailer vendor $100. Need to check with CRC
on whether or not a “wine” vendor is permitted. The sales class will be
held at lunch hour and we will see if Shawna Valenzuela-Bloom is
available to announce this.
Ventura Show – Mariano
Cabrera has agreed to judge the breeding division for no fee but would
like airfare for his wife. He would like to give a judge’s talk on
Friday and will need an interpretor. Joe Chandler will give his judge’s
talk on Sat. am. Cathy will ask Joe for a bio and photo. We already have
a bio from Mariano.
Burbank Show – Contact F.
Thorndike and Raul Risso for availability.
NAPHA – We are ordering the
Vivienne Lundquist Trophy for the Nationals. All agreed to pay Debbie’s
hotel and registration fees for the NAPHA meeting in Las Vegas.
Financial Report – The 2008
year-end financial report will be completed soon.
New Business;
Show Approvals – We need to
remind Fiesta and Los Amigos to send in requests for SCPPHC show
approvals.
Bill Davis – Carole will
send a “get well” card to Bill Davis.
