SCPPHC Board Meeting Minutes
January 6,
2009

All Board members in
attendance: Debbie Dutton, Merlene Sutalo, Cathy Yaskivich, Janniece
MacDonald, Kathryn Grossman, Carole Hackett, & Patty White.
Meeting was brought to order
by Debbie.
Minutes were accepted as
written.
Treasurer’s Report:
$19,421.08. Jorge Valenzuela still has a bill to pay. Due to collection
problem, will require money order, cashiers’ check or cash for the ’09
season. Still some funds owed for sponsorships as well as a couple show
bills that had errors and need rebilling.
Old Business;
Equine Affaire – Cathy will
check into insurance and the added costs. Debbie has prepared a SCPPHC
ad to go out in the Horsetrader before EA as well as before the show.
Debbie will ask Horsetrader if they will allow and make flyers and a
poster of this ad. Newsletter will be handed out as well. Debbie and
Patty will handle the set-up and Kathryn will prepare the work schedule.
Banquet – Carole has some
donated items for the raffle. However, we need more donated items so we
all need to work on this. Bring collected items to the next meeting.
Margaret Turk will be Master of Ceremonies, Danell Adams will DJ.
Certificates will be prepared by Kathryn. Debbie ordered 50 lead ropes
to be handed out to those attending, we have awards for 1st –
3rd award placings. We will need to contact people to
encourage them to attend.
Trail Ride – Feb. 21st
& 22nd at Painted Canyon which is on BLM land. Patty will
prepare and mail the flyer. Sat. evening will be a potluck. We will need
to make sure that those attend are members and releases will need to be
signed. We discussed “associate” memberships for guests. Cathy will get
insurance.
Clinic & Playday at Hacienda
Sosegado – March 7th & 8th with rain dates of the
14th & 15th. There will be separate clinic for
juniors and adults on Saturday with the playday on Sunday. Nicholas
Breaux is clinician/judge. We will handle the lunch both days, probably
a BBQ and charge $7. Drinks (sodas) will be $1. Cathy will get the
insurance and this cost will be shared with Joy Gould ($100). Joy will
mail a flyer.
April Show – Debbie has been
checking on hotels for the best rates. We reviewed the class list and
noted changes. Fee changes were changed as follows –Stalls & tacks $70 &
$75, RV $30 per day. We will start the show at 8am. Cathy will confirm a
vet for standby, contact Doug LaSota for a short bio and photo for the
premium and check on his air reservations. Debbie will check with Joy on
the Laureado party she is having along with Bill Muhlhauser. We need
photos and short write-ups on the three Laureado horses. Cathy will
contact Bill Muhlhauser and Debbie will contact Joy Gould. Janniece will
be able to do gates, Patty and Gary White will handle the BBQ lunches.
The cost will be put in the premium and we will allow this to be added
to the show bill. We will also have a 50/50 raffle which also will be
posted in the premium. Due to requests, we will have Friday
hospitality/social hour about 4pm again.
Burbank Show – This will be
Oct. 30th, 31st and Nov.1st, 2009. We
discussed judges- Felipe Thorndike, Dante Mazzi and Andres del Solar. We
are to think about this for the next meeting.
The awards still needed for
the 2008 Burbank have been sent out.
NAPHA – Working on the
Vivienne Lundquist Trophy for the 2009 Nationals. We would like a photo
of the award before it is shipped to Texas.
Ventura Show – Cathy said
Julio Peschiera will not be able to judge the Breeding Division of the
show due to health issues. Cathy will try to get Mariano Cabrera. We
will limit the gas to $100 for Connie. Debbie need to give Cathy either
a mail or e-mail address for Connie so she can get a contract out.
Business Sponsor form – We
agreed if someone/a business donates $100 worth of items for the banquet
raffle, we will consider that a business sponsor with no added fee. If
$50 worth donated, the additional fee will be $50.
New Business:
Horsetrader Ad – We approved
the ad Debbie prepared. It will be out in time for Equine Affaire and
again mid-March for the show. Cost is $466 per issue. We would like to
make posters and hand out flyers of it but need permission from
Horsetrader. Debbie will check into this.
Rose Parade 2010 – We would
like to get a Club parade group together and try to get back into the
Rose Parade. Patty will handle this and get help from Danell Adams.
Danell will attend the February Board Meeting. We figure on about 12
people and will ask NAPHA to help sponsor us.
2008 Year – end Financial
Report and Taxes – This will be done soon.
