Board Meeting Minutes
July 7, 2009
Marie Calendars’,Temecula,Ca
6:30pm
Meeting was called to order by Debbie.
6 Board Members in attendance; Debbie Dutton, Cathy
Yaskivich, Merlene Sutalo, Janniece MacDonald, Patty White, & Carole
Hackett. Missing was Kathryn Grossman.
Meeting was called to order by Debbie.
Minutes were accepted as written with a change that
stall fees at Fairplex were increased to $15.00 per day. Also the
sponsorship fee increase of $5 will start in 2010.
Treasurer’s Report : $20,847.74 although Seaside
Park has not been paid yet. We received a bill from the Franchise tax
Board regarding a penalty for not filing a non-profit certificate. This
had been done so John MacDonald will check into this.
Old Business;
Parade Group – We have the raffle tickets for the
saddle donated by Alberto Lummis to benefit the parade group. Some have
already been sold. We have been invited to enter the Placentia Heritage
Festival Parade on Oct. 10th. We will consider entering this
parade if accepted by the Rose Parade committee. We also discussed
another parade in Norco in Sept. but decided against this one as it will
be very hot at that time.
Spring Show – Still need to check into an EMT for
the show. Debbie will look into this.
Ventura Show – Show report supplied and reviewed.
Didn’t make as much profit even though we had about the same amount of
horses and the expenses hadn’t increased much. We noted that
participants were not entering as many classes as in the past. Danell
Adams reported that her award is defective and will need to be fixed or
replaced.
Burbank Show – John is working with Risso and Cathy
with Thorndike on airline reservations. Charlotte Becerra feels we can
increase participation at this show with more advertising. She can
handle the advertising including any designing needed in trade for a
banner as well as show sponsorships. All agreed. We need to find a list
of ranches or facilities where participants can stop/rest their horses
in route for those coming long distances. Will list Patty as contact.
Next month we need to work on the class list. We discussed having the
halter and most of the junior classes on Sunday. No junior classes on
Friday. We also discussed making all the amateur classes open and anyone
qualifying for the Sr. Amateur High Point notify the show secretary. No
laureado parties. Annette Kart has contacted us and we would like to
have a bar-b-que or function at her new home in Burbank perhaps on
Friday evening. We could supply the wine and Annette – perhaps snacks,
or ? There is also the possibility she would like to host the annual
election meeting in November. Merlene will discuss these issues with
Annette. We also discussed the possibility of dinner at the Peruvian
restaurant owned by the wife of Richard Ubillus. If he could give us
some coupons/offer coupons in the show premium, we could offer him a
business sponsorship.
Directory – Debbie will do soon.
Arlynda – Cathy has e-mail a contract to her.
Nov. Minutes – Kathryn to send to Cathy to forward
to Debbie Pye.
Banner Sponsorship – Debbie will prepare the
application form and Carole and Patty will work on the sponsors.
New Business;
Sandy Blankenship Award – Leonard Blankenship
recently passed on. We discussed adding Leonard to it and changing it to
a perpetual award. All agreed to not have it as a perpetual but now list
it as the Leonard and Sandy Blankenship Award.
Logo Items Inventory – Need to order items, jackets
in particular.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:30pm
Respectfully submitted,
Cathy Yaskivich
