SCPPHC Board Meeting Minutes
May 12, 2009

6 Board Members in attendance; Debbie Dutton,
Merlene Sutalo, Cathy Yaskivich, Janniece MacDonald, Kathryn Grossman
and Patty White. Missing was Carole Hackett. Also in attendance was
Danell Adams.
Meeting was brought to order by Debbie.
Minutes were accepted as written.
Treasurer’s Report; $14,522.40. There are still
some sponsorships due.
Old Business;
Parade – Danell stated that the application has
been received by the Rose Parade committee. Steve Laasko and Lee Locke
donated photos to be used in the Rose Parade application book. We should
know by late July whether or not we have been accepted. If accepted we
will probably do a parade in December to prepare for Equifest. After our
participation at Fiesta of the Spanish Horse, we were approached by a
couple members of the Rose Parade committee who expressed interest in
our group. Danell tried to get sponsors in Peru with no luck. However,
Alberto Lummis will donate a saddle to be raffled. Need to ask Joline if
she will allow us to sell tickets at the Los Amigos Show as well as
place an ad in their newsletter. Danell will make a poster. Tickets will
be $10 each or 11 for $100. She will also ask Joy if we can request
donations for the SCPPHC parade group on the NAPHA web-site.
Spring Show - Steward Report was submitted by
Charlie Brooks. Financial Report was supplied and we lost about $950 due
to the higher costs of CRC – basically the stalls and arena fees. Pomona
hasn’t given us a commitment yet for April 2010. Debbie talked to Cookie
regarding some cut in costs if we have the show there in 2010. We
discussed business sponsorships and the hanging of banners but no
decision was made. We would need someone to handle this. A letter was
received by Joy Gould regarding some show issues and we acknowledge some
of her concerns. Danell said both she and Bill Muhlhauser were unaware
they were receiving high points which created some confusion when the
high point were being awarded. Usually everyone is notified so we are
not sure what happened.
Ventura Show – Lionel Peralto from Central America
will tudent judge. Cathy will contact Connie Leshin to see if she will
be the interpreter for Mariano Cabrera at the judges meeting Friday
afternoon.Need more sponsors.
Burbank Shows – John MacDonald is working with Raul
Risso on the purchase of the airline ticket. Cathy will check with
Thorndike on his reservations. The parade group may do a presentation if
accepted by the Rose Parade committee. Arlynda Castro will be our show
secretary.
Banquet Gifts – Merlene purchased items in Peru.
However, some of the bags were missing from her hotel room and she is
working with the hotel to try to find them.
Novice Rule – This was discussed and the decision
was agreed to make the rule state never won more than 3 blue ribbons in
a SCPPHC show.
Welcome Letter – These were mailed out to the
Novices and new members.
New Business;
Sidesaddle – We have a participant with a physical
issue that has requested we allow her to ride sidesaddle in most
classes. A proposal has been made to NAPHA on this as she does show at
numerous shows. Wording on tack and attire was supplied which we will
put in the premium for the Burbank shows. Cathy will notify NAPHA.We
will post this in our newsletter and Debbie Pye will send out e-mails.
Gold Rush Peruvian Horse Classic – We have received
a request to approve the Gold Rush Peruvian Classic Show in Las Vegas.
This show was approved for points.
November Minutes – These have not been posted to
the web-site. These minutes were prepared by Kathryn when Cathy presided
over the meeting. Kathryn will get a copy to Cathy so she can keep them
on record and send them to Debbie Pye for posting on the web-site.
Breeders’ Cup – We discussed the Breeders’ Cup and
decided to only have this at the Fall Classic and Grand Championship
Shows.
The meeting was adjourned at 9pm
